Exhibition design and spatial installation for Aída Labrin Ladrón de Guevara’s ‘Shedding’, premiering at Jergon Studio Berlin. Spatial concept based on the material properties of latex and physical tension. Development of spatial layout, visitor flow, lighting scheme and custom exhibition fixtures, like a massive, ceiling-hung latex curtain functioning as a non-traditional photographic substrate. On-site technical direction and assembly coordination.

ABSTRACT

“Shedding explores the human body as both boundary and refuge: the skin as the frontier between the intimate and the visible, the flesh as the inevitable ground of the experience of feeling. Through latex skins, faceless bodies, wearable art, and fragmented breaths, the work invites the experience of inhabiting one’s own body as an uncomfortable act; sometimes painful, often transformative, and always a pathway to understanding and discovering both oneself and the world.

The work culminates in an open question: ‘Which skin do you inhabit today?’, that invites us to respond, to strip away the mask, and to leave a trace on paper of who we are in this moment. In this exhibition space, that act takes a physical form: visitors can write their answer on a slip of paper and place it in the latex urn provided. Each voice becomes part of a living archive that reveals how many skins we invent in order to sustain ourselves.”
